Identity compromised

While checking Credit Karma, a free online service, I noticed a delinquent credit card with a bank I've never done business with, a limit I don't have and the card was over the limit. I did some checking and it was from a bank in Nevada. I called the bank and was told that the account's street address and phone didn't match their records but my social security and name did. The bank is doing an investigation and once it's over (i'm sure they will see it's not my acct) they will remove it from my report. Ok said and done concerning the bank. I then called LifeLock to inquire why they never notified me about this account being opened in my name & social. The woman I spoke with said "WE CAN'T CATCH EVERYTHING". Hello~!!! Then I asked her what they intended on doing to prevent this from happening again when she said "IT'S NOT LIKE YOUR A VICTIM OF IDENTITY THEFT". I asked her how does she figure that? My Social Security & name was used to apply for credit~! Just because the bank agreed to not hold me responsible, I was still a identity theft victim. Suddenly she told me to hold on. I waited a little while, she came back and said they would send me an email which I never received a paperwork in the mail to be filled out. So basically, they are waiting for my information before their investigation can be completed. I asked this woman if LifeLock would be contacting this bank and she said no that I had to do it which again, I had already done so. But than she also advised me to notify all three credit bureaus to be sure this item is removed from their records. So tell me, what am I paying LifeLock for? I'm absolutely not renewing. My company is now offering Identity Theft Protection for 9.00 a month. For what I paid LifeLock for I could have this 9.00 a month service f or 10 years. Because my husband was to be covered under LifeLock, he had to pay for a separate account. We put out 1200.00 for the two of us. It kills me this service was so expensive. And to get my credit compromised, really pisses me off. If it weren't for Credit Karma which was FREE~! I would never have found this theft. Good Bye to LifeLock, your not all that like you state you are. You advertise that being a member, you get a reduced amount of pre-approved credit offers. I get one almost everyday. More than ever. Now I'm not stating that LifeLock did nothing as I did receive several alerts per month but LifeLock failed me in the end.
