LifeLock Didn't Protext Me

Today I received an email from LifeLock saying they had good news - that they protected my accounts and identity for another month. NOT TRUE. I had a fraudulent charge on a credit card where the thief used my account to purchase a gift card. I have never purchased gift cards online. So, exactly how does this LifeLock thing work and what can I expect from them if they missed this?
